The Sonata Insights difference : How Debra Aho Williamson works with clients
Thank you for reading my blog! I'm so glad you're here.
If you're new, I thought I’d share a bit more about me and what I do at Sonata Insights.
I provide custom research and advisory services to businesses that want to lead industry conversations about the transformative impact of AI on marketing and consumer behavior.
I spent nearly 2 decades as an eMarketer analyst, and I founded eMarketer's social media research practice in 2006. Yes, that means I started researching social media when Facebook was 2, and before Instagram, Snapchat or TikTok even existed.
I believe it’s critical for marketers to understand how consumer tech behaviors evolve over time. If social media disrupted a few marketing plans, then the impact of AI will be exponential.
I have a beginner's mind. I start with curiosity - what's changing? what should marketers know? what do consumers think or believe? - and I constantly look for areas to bust myths or inspire new ways of thinking.
The companies I work with have two main goals:
They want to deliver authoritative research and position themselves as a thought leader and expert on the evolution of AI in marketing.
They want expert advisory and education on AI and consumer behavior, so they can stay ahead of their peers and set marketing priorities.
In the 10 months since I launched Sonata Insights I've worked with a wide range of clients, including IAB, Ascendant Network, WARC, M7 Innovations and Datos.
I speak regularly about consumer AI behavior and the marketing impact.
I used to be a journalist and I love talking to reporters about how AI is changing marketing. I've been lucky to be on TV dozens of times, including BBC, NBC and Bloomberg.
I live in Seattle and I am your best friend if you want tips on what to eat here. (Hint: Watch the Pike Place Market fish throwers with everyone else and then go across the street and up 3 flights of stairs to Matt's in the Market for lunch.)
On LinkedIn, I talk about consumer AI behaviors and the future of marketing in an AI-driven world. And the occasional personal post, like the time someone parked way too close to my car, or how AI helped me stay productive with a broken wrist.
Thank you for being here! Please reach out if you would like to partner for groundbreaking research or advisory services.
